RESEARCH HOSPITAL
The MVJ Group of Institutions is the vision of the great Educationist, late Dr. M.V.Jayaraman. What started as a small Educational Institution has now swelled up to encompass Education, Engineering, Polytechnic, Medicine, Business Administration and is prospering to greater heights day by day. We are trying to live up to the farsighted vision that Dr. M V Jayaraman saw many years ago.
MVJ Medical College and Research Hospital was started in the year 2001-02 with an intake of 100 Medical Students. Initially the College was started in Whitefield.
Then a massive new Hospital and College complex was built near Hoskote in a totally salubrious and eco friendly environment. The rural setting was chosen as it was proposed to carry World class Health Care to the villages, while at the same time providing the best of educational facilities to the medical students. The College and the Hospital are located in a sprawling 27acre complex on NH-4 with totally green surroundings.
The Hospital complex houses a 640 bedded hospital, with necessary infrastructure. Since its inception in the new location in Oct 2004, the Hospital has already catered 1,70, 000 out patients and over 21,000 inpatients. The patients are essentially from the rural areas and they provide excellent and varied clinical material for both the doctors and the students of this institution.
The hospital building is in three main blocks, A B & C.
The “A” block is an artistically and aesthetically constructed block with sweeping curves extending on both the sides. It has the Administrative Office, the Pharmacy & Hospital Lecture Hall. The Master Health Check up enclosure is also located in this block.
The “B” block houses the critical areas, like various ICUs and Operation theatres. This block also houses the Casualty department, the OBG Dept, the OPDs and a 240 bedded ward. The laboratories, MRD, CSSD, and Canteen are also located in this block.
The “C” Block has the Radiology Dept and the Residents’ hostel in the ground floor and has two floors of 120 bedded wards, and the Hostel for Interns and Nurses on the top floor.
The Hospital has 640 beds covering all major specialties. It also has a fully equipped ICCU to look after not only cardiac patients but also the critically ill patients. It is fully equipped with the latest hi-tech equipments, including state-of-the art monitors, infusion pumps and other essential resuscitation equipments. Defibrillators and Ventilators of the latest make, Central Oxygen and suction apparatus are an integral part of the ICCU. A state of the art, Dialysis unit has been recently added to cater to the needs of the rural population of Karnataka.
The Medical ICU is also equipped with the same state-of-the-art equipment to provide the patients with the best possible care. Central Oxygen and suction are supplied through the gas manifold.
The Paediatric Department offers specialized care to new born children and children up to the age of sixteen. The Paediatric and Neonatal ICUs have been equipped with the best possible ventilators, resuscitators, warmers, incubators and other supportive equipment. A dedicated team of Paediatricians provides the best possible care to the patients and it has extended into the rural area where the care that was never before available in this part of the State. The Department has taken the responsibility of providing immunization services to the local children and this is implemented through various programmes including the “ Vande Mataram” programme on the 9th of every month. The fact that there is the back up of an excellent paediatric ICU and Neonatal ICU are great boon for effective treatment of children.
A Burns ward, with four beds has been set up, for those unfortunate individuals who have severe burns and have very little chance of survival. With a combination of expert surgical and nursing care, the unit is catered to save these individuals by giving them the best possible care. Specially trained and dedicated nurses are on duty in this ward to see that the patients are free of pain and that there is no chance for infection to set in. A totally sterile atmosphere is maintained here at all times.
The Operation Theatre of MVJ Medical College and Research Hospital have already set a record by providing the highest degree of surgical care to the needy in the field of General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology and Obstetrics and Gynaeacology. It has 12 extremely well equipped state-of-the-art Operation theatres. The team of Surgeons and Anaesthetists take pride in producing results that are the envy of all the neighbouring hospitals and other Medical institutions.
The Pathology, Microbiology, & Biochemistry laboratories in the hospital are of high standards and have a proud academic record to stand up to. The Biochemistry department has a complete auto Analyzer and a semi autoanalyser which facilitate giving accurate and timely reports. The laboratories provide the clinicians with an excellent back up by providing diagnostic facilities of a very high order.
The Blood Bank of the hospital is very well equipped and has all the latest equipment required for a modern blood bank, including a component separator which is a first of its kind in this entire area. It also has deep freezers for storing blood and blood products to cater for emergencies.
The Orthopaedics Department has a very modern and well-equipped operation theatre with C-Arm and other diagnostic facilities. The staff undertake all the latest procedures and the department is a boon to the local population, who do not now have to rush to Bangalore for any orthopaedic problems.
The Laundry in the Hospital is fully mechanized. It can take a load of 50 Kg per filling and can be run practically continuously, depending on the demand of the OTs and the wards.
The CSSD Department is fully equipped with two autoclave machines, one of which is a two-door one. The entire department pays special attention to cleanliness and sterility. The department also has an ETO machine.
The diet kitchen provides special diet to patients as per the advice of the attending doctors. The hospital has a well- trained and qualified dietician who visits the patients daily and guides in the preparation of diet as prescribed.
The centralized gas manifold system supplies the entire hospital with Oxygen and suction facilities. It also supplies Nitrous Oxide to the operation Theatre and Compressed air to areas which require it.
The Medical Records Department is computerized and has instant withdrawal facilities. The updated system is of great help to the physicians and others in retrieval of data to help in their research work.
