F & Q
Regarding Student-Visa:-
1. What is the duration of student visa?
Students will apply for a student visa, and if they receive it, they will receive a one month long
visa and a residence permit for one year. Once they arrive to Hungary with the visa, they will
have 30 days to pick up the residence permit that allows them to stay in Hungary for one year
with the purpose of Studying.
2. How to renew the student visa if I want to continue my study in Hungary?
Before 30 days of expiry of the residence permit, they will have to apply for an extension at the
Hungarian immigration office, for which IBS will provide them all the information, when, where
to go and what papers they need. They will have to pay the next year’s tuition fee and they
have to have a contract of their accommodation, the recommendable is the IBS residence hall.
3. Are there any Govt. initiations for working in Hungary after completing study?
No government initiations, but IBS has their own: IBS programme is a sandwich programme,
which means that they have to spend a full year of placement during the first year. For this we
have about 300 company partners, which are applying for IBS students. Students will have to
decide where they want to work, and in which area, and than they have to work for one year.
This year is a paid internship; usually companies are paying the students’ tuition fee for this
year. (The BA programme costs 17600 Euro and this is divided in 4 equal parts, that’s why
they pay for this year as well.)
Regarding Study:-
4. How many intakes are there?
IBS have only one intake for BA and Masters programme and 3 intakes for Intensive English
Language programme.
5. How long it takes for admission decision?
Once IBS receive the documents, we will make a decision in maximum two weeks.
6. Can I get credit transfer for portion of study completed in India?
Yes, but only up to 25% of the total credit of the programme, and only on BA level, not on
Master level.
7. Can I get scholarship?
the next semester. So from the second year, students may study free of charge all through the
years in case they excel in their studies.
Regarding work:-
8. Can I work part-time while studying? If yes, please give more information regarding
procedure to get work permit, kind of part-time work etc.
Yes, students are allowed to work part-time, they don’t need a work permit for that, with the
student residence permit they are legally employable. However it is important to know that it is
very hard to find part-time job in general and even harder if they don’t speak Hungarian, so
there is very slight chance that they will get a part time job. On the other side if they make a
quick calculation, on what they would pay for their studies and living costs in the UK and
deduct the salary they earn in a part time job, they will realize, that it is still more expensive
than paying the tuition fee and the living costs in Hungary and not earning a single penny. This
actually enables them to concentrate more on the studies, and profit better from it, not to
mention that they might get the scholarship as well for the result of their hard work.
8. Can I work full time after completion of study to get international experience?
Not just after the studies, but as mentioned before, they have to work during their 3r d year as
well. And obviously after the study if they are decided to stay in Hungary and they found a job
that would fit their needs, they can extend their residence permit for the purpose of work.

12. Which is the official currency and language of Hungary?

years, when the Euro will come in. Obviously euro is also accepted in most places and all of
the major credit cards can be used (VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, Maestro, etc). The official
